Wainui Marae Refurbished

Wainui Marae committee applied for funding to the local pub charity for new cladding, roofing and flooring for their wharehui, work that has been required for a number of years.

The Marae committee was successful in securing $10,000 in funding for a new roof in May 2011.

Dan Graham says, "He mahi nui tenei mo to tatou marae.  We have had to get this work done, because if we had left it any longer our wharenui would deteriorated further and we would have faced a huge cost to rebuild.  We would like to acknowledge the Pub Charity, Te Runanga o Te Rarawa and all the whanau of the marae that have helped get this work underway."

A new roof, cladding and joinery for Wainui Marae was installed and completed in first week of August 2011 and a hakari celebration was enjoyed by all.  Mauriora!
